Summary: Overall a decent watch with some limitations nonetheless. Batteries died quickly, returned for service. Lay on my dresser for months until I paid $30.00 for a new band recently, not good feature. Needs a jeweler to replace batteries and it takes two. Thermometer not accurate on wrist, must let sit for several minutes. The hands glow dimly, but adequately at night. Barometer dependent on altitude setting, not convenient feature. Decent looking, big, "manly" watch. I wouldn't recommend it due to the fragile band, unease of battery (and frequency of) replacement. Apparently others have had more problems with the actual time function. That's been OK on mine.
Customer Service: Returned to purchase site (maybe Heartland) for satisfactory service. Just needed new batteries, but way too early.
Similar Products Used: Timex Expedition I prefer actually and use for my around home "work" watch. Very sturdy and functional. No thermometer, but nice, accurate compass.

Summary: Like many befor less that impressed with the Startech watch constantly resets itself but my biggest problem is the rubber strap. I am on my 4th set Three sets have cracked then split and eventually broken in two. £20 each time for a new strap
Customer Service: Have failed to locate Swiss Army customer services so have had to pay up for replacement straps 3 times. Me not happy.

Summary: This is not a sob story this is the truth. My sister purchased the Startech 3000 for me from Heartlandamerica.com.as a Christmas gift last October. Since it was a Christmas gift it was wrapped and put away for opening presents Christmas Day. On Christmas Day my father passed away so we delayed opening the gifts for a few weeks. When I opened my gift, a brand new Swiss Army Victorinex Startech 3000 I was overwhelmed by its beauty and the many functions it contained. I set the watch and wore it for the first time. After a while I checked the time and noticed that the hands were not reading correctly according to a wall clock. Not only that but the digital clock was back to 12noon and it was now about three in the afternoon. I reset it and noticed that the second hand was sweeping at five seconds a tick. I tried to set the barometer and altimeter but when I pushed the buttons it would cut the watch completely off and reset it back to 12 noon. We packaged it up and returned it to Heartlandamerica. After a week or two we received a phone call saying the watch would have to be sent to the manufacturer. I told them no I wanted a new watch as this one had never been worn. They refused to give me a new one because it was passed the 90 day return policy. I explained to them the situation and they still refused to give me another one. Not only that they said we would have to pay and additional 100.00 dollars to have the first watch returned to us. Something to do with inspection policy and so forth. I got the watch back and still it does not work properly. I have searced Swiss Army completely along with other sights looking for the make and model number of this watch. I could not find it anyplace. I then called Swiss Army and they could not find it in their database. The watch is a piece of cheap junk that should never had the Swiss Army logo placed upon it. I therefore recommend that no one purchase this watch and most of all not from Heartland America.
There is no backlight and the hands are not flourescent. I cannot believe that Swiss Army would sanction sales of this watch.
Customer Service: Swiss Army has agreed to allow me to send the watch in for inspection, (subject to repair charges.)

Summary: i purchased three starech 3000-s one for a friend who i climb with, one for my son, and yours truly.
I dont understand the complaints-all 3 have functioned well-the altimaeter is fairly accurate-as is the thermometer when off the wrist- the alarm is a bit quiet but works-no one has mentioned that the analog watch has a separate battery from the didgital fucntions-so it is unlikley youll have a total watch failure - i have had mone about 24 months and had to replace both my sons and mine batterys for the ananlog clocks only (did both sets as a matter of simply avoiding another time -out)
while a light wouldve been nice-for the digital functions at least-i find the analog hands and numbers on the larger face are absolutley visible in the dark-yes dim-but thats what tritium does after a few hours-i can wake up at 3-4-5 am (whenever) and read the face without burning out my eyes with a bright blue backlight-
eeets a verry big watch and im not a big guy-it has not caused me problems with accidnetal button activation and actauly conforms to the wrist quite nicely-it is a comparatively bulky watch and thats what you get with all the stuff
-the band is top quality imo, quite stout, and there havent been any problems-face is easy to read and uncluttered-crystal serves to slightly magnify so its even easier-

Similar Products Used: ive got a bunch of Victorinox as well a wenger watches-some very inexpensive about 100 sometimes even less) others quite pricey-overall i love em-they do the job well and i dont worry about them-and as a result of course nothing ever happens-one plain old renegade SA watch ive got has been to alaska, europe, nepal and no less than 70 climbs here in colorado-a bit scratched-works well , still glows well, original band is tough as steel (albeit the synthetic compound)and served as the best intro to the watches i can imagine-i find that wengers tend to have a better glow factor when new but the victorinox SA SAF types tend to have greater longevity in this regard-buts its really close and may simply be nothing other than how new the tritium or luminescent material is. I like these watches -theyre about as wonderful as the knives-

Summary: This was the only stylish watch that I could find with all the features I wanted, AND it was on sale for only $175, so i asked for it for Christmas. The watch I first recieved was faulty, so i had to send it back immediately. After 6 months of decent service, it too broke. I have given up on the Startech 3000 due to its poor quality and construction. I have found a better watch which i purchased with the refund from the 3000. It is the HighGear AXIS! IT IS AWESOME!!! It is superior to the Startech in every way. I like the look as well as the overall comforability and ease of use of the AXIS. It has an even lower price and I highly reccomend it.
Customer Service: It was decent, but obviously, the Startech 3000 is not Swatch's pride and joy. They dont even make it anymore. It was a gorgeous watch with all the right features, but it was poorly executed. In fact, they didnt even recognise the watches name at first! They know the Startech line of watches, but the nice lady had didnt remember the 3000 until she saw how many had been returned...so i'm not the only one.....
Similar Products Used: The HighGear AXIS. MUST BUY!!!! Increadible overall but extremely tough!
