Day Hiker
Price Paid:
$79129.00
at High Country Outfitt Summary: I have 2 pairs of clarion impacts and 1 all leather clarion. I wear these boots every day. To work in-I'm an electrician, hike, scout, around town-everywhere! They are very comfortable and the only drawback I have found is the sole wears out faster than I would like, but this is probably due to the fact I wear them so much. While this sole lacks the traction of a vibram sole, it is adequate and doesn't get caked up with mud, adding weight. It is my understanding that you can get new soles put on. Vasque boots fit my feet like a glove and I will always have a pair. Gore-tex ones have never leaked. In my 46 years I have never found a boot that fits this good. I still wear all 3 pairs and would give this boot the highest possible rating. Customer Service: Never had reason to use them Similar Products Used: Raichle, Merrell, Danner, Rocky, Herman

at OPC Summary: To Joe in AZ. Unless you have some felt bottom boots, try to stay off the rocks when it rains - no rubber bottom boot should be expected to keep your foot from slipping on wet river rocks.
Ive had a set of these for about 4 years. Great boots, but they do get toasty. As mentioned before, you begin to feel the trail if the terrain gets knobby over long distances. Similar Products Used: Asolo

$120.00 Summary: Not a bad boot for day hiking in cool weather, but as a 190 pounder I find that almost any pack immediately showcases a sole that's too thin for carrying heavy loads. You start to feel every rock and root. I also concur with other reviewers who find them too warm for summer hiking. I can't say anything bad about the durability. I've used mine for about 10 years of shoulder season hiking, with and without packs, and found them bombproof. Other than rusty grommets after a decade, which I can deal with, they look pretty much as good as new. Customer Service: The shoes are in such good shape, all I've ever done is replace the laces, so never had to deal with Vasque. Similar Products Used: Montrail Torre GTX

at The Rugged Boot in N Summary: it had just rained (an exciting thing in az) so i went to Sabino Canyon. carefully stepping down to the creek i slipped on the wet rocks and clunked my head and elbow. this is the last straw!! i'm throwing out these fairly new $140 boots. comfort and stability are satisfactory (not great), but traction is atrocious. i'm going to look to the top of the ratings and spend whatever it takes for a boot that won't break my neck. at Cumberland Transit Summary: Bought my pair in '98. Thus far I have logged about 600 miles on the A.T. & numerous miles in the Smokies with these boots. They have been great. With the help of smartwool & a good silk liner, I've never had a blister. They show little signs of wear. These boots are more comfortable that most sneakers & truly stand up to the most rigorous trails. For the price & comfort, I would definitely buy another pair. Customer Service: Never used
