Price Paid:  $190.00 at Spac Sport

Summary:
I had to laugh that for once a product is cheaper in Europe. Usually the products we buy here in Europe are far more expensive than in the US. Except for German boots. The Tibet GTX is a reliable boot. I've used them in a number of different conditions; cold and snow (-20C), heavy loads, crossing rivers and simple walking. They're waterproof and with the use of gaiters you can cross rivers 1 foot deep (if you do it fast). They look cool and feel cool. Good support. Just keep them in a good condition, use the right wax or cream and keep them clean. You can always replace the sole if necessary.

Price Paid:  $220.00 at German outfitter

Summary:
Pro: Support, waterproof, looks
Con: Weight, price

I have a surgically repaired ankle that requires special attention when running or backpacking. These boots provide amazing support, allowing me to cover a few extra miles pain free. Completely waterproof and very cool looking, their only potential drawbacks are weight and price. Too heavy for day-hiking, but just what the doctor ordered for lugging a 40lb pack!

Customer Service:
None required with these boots, but other encounters with Lowa USA have been satisfactory, but not excellent.
