at Sierra Trading Post Summary: I bought these boots in 2005 for my work in wildlife biology. I used them to traverse the burnt areas of the Black Hills, and they held up excellently in the heavy deadfall and rough terrain. They are very light and comfortable, and created few if any blisters. I used these boots for two years without any major problems, but heavy use will definitely take its toll - after two years of great durability and comfort, I took them to Yellowstone for a 6-week job involving 10+ miles of off-trail hiking per day, and I threw them out on the last day. Not bad for being 2 years old, though.
The nubuck isn't nearly as durable as the hard leather, and the Gore-Tex did leak after numerous dips in Yellowstone Lake on the job. The soles also wore out and caused a lot of foot pain, easily remedied by new insoles.
Overall, I really liked this boot - it held up quite well, considering I used it for over 2 years and it held up at least as well as my coworker's $200 Asolos. You're also more likely to find this boot on sale, which makes it an even better deal.

at Summit Hut Summary: Actually Narrow! Tried multiple pairs of boots, including LL Bean Cresta Hiker, and Vasque Wasatch, none of which were Narrow. The Renegade GTX Mid Narrow is actually a B width, and is a medium heavy boot, good for dayhikes and moderate backpacking.

at eBay Summary: Wanting to get back into some light backpacking after 20 years, I decided to start with a pair of boots - the best I could afford. I tried on a pair of Vasque Breeze at a chain outdoors store and liked them, but needed a half-size larger than I normally wear. The were about $145. When I saw these on eBay with a starting price of $50 (retail $185)in the half size larger like the Vasques, I bid and ended up being the only bidder. I'm very pleased with the boots - they fit perfectly, virtually no breakin and after about seven rugged trail miles, they are definately keepers! I recommend them.

at REI Summary: A nice boot if you want something lighter, that puts fewer layers between your foot and the ground. You will feel more sensitivity to the ground underfoot, which can be good and bad. Definitely a cooler, more breathable boot. Very comfortable, except if you don't have WIDE feet, as no wide size available. If you like a lot of soft cushion, this is not the boot for you. If you like a lot more cushion, you might go for something like the Vasque Breeze GTX XCR, but that can be a warm sweaty boot during summer hikews. Yes, I know I paid too much for this Lowa boot. Seek a better price. Customer Service: no known Similar Products Used: Vasque Breeze GTX XCR

at K2 Summary: Just got back from a 12 month trip around some parts of the globe and only took these boots and a pair of Teva's with me. Left my Meindl Island Pro's behind because I was looking for a lightweight, waterproof, comfortable and reasonably supporting boot to carry around. They performed well: reasonably waterproof except in extreme conditions, support is very low in comparison to my other boots but this is no B/C class boot, the stitches are still holding and they are not too hot when travelling in hot climate. I knew beforehand that the ideal shoe for this trip does probably not exist but I did never regret taking these boots along. They took me through the desert and over the Andes but I would not use them for serious multi-day treks. Similar Products Used: Meindl Island Pro
