Summary:
Excellent tent! I spent six months travelling in South America with a Megamid and it was the best possible tent. I made my own floor that had about 6" of nylon wall and then another foot of bug mesh and used expandable hiking poles to raise the Megamid up to 8' height in good weather. The Megamid out performed so many tents in the Patagonia wind and snow. We watched a guy rolling away in the Patagonia wind in his Bibler tent and saw a North Face tent collapsed under the snow. I have snow camped with the Mid, I have done climbing weekends in the high Sierra with it and I am about to go on the John Muir trail with my Mid. It's great, roomy and lightweight. Having the side walls on the floor makes a big difference for wind but I have used it many times without and just staked it low. NO PROBLEMS! I love Megamids and have been using them since 1996.

Summary:
I thought this tent would be ideal for some lightweight trekking in Ladakh - what a mistake!!! I had to build a rock wall around it every night to stop the wind blowing in. It was simply awful. I GAVE it away to some locals at the end of my trip - they were reluctant to accept it even because they'd seen how useless it was. Waste of $$$$. I'm embarrassed to admit I was dumb enough to buy it.
