Summary:
I had been using those Eveready 4-AA headlamps for a while. They put out a strong light, but it has a lot of weight on the front of your head and no top headstrap. I bought a Petzl Micro and was somewhat ok with it, but the light was very weak and the waterproofing questionable. I actually took it back and exchanged it for the Quest.

What a suprisingly good light! The optics are MUCH better (compare the reflectors). No, it's not adjustable but I can live with that. Great for repairing your car, setting up a tent or taking a nice walk after dark. Heck, I even used it for biking on a local trail. Very waterproof, too.

Petzl Micro(not enough light, bad optics), Eveready (eats batteries, no top strap)

Summary:
It is a great headlamp. I used mag-lites for years and this is just the greatest releafe. The only problem is that the light beam is not adjustable, but it is not too much of incomvenience to deal with if you dont want to pay more. The battery seemed to hold up pretty good, even in subfreezing temperatures it leasted for almost four hours. It feels comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Price Paid:  $7.00 at REI

Summary:
Don't expect to find one this cheap. It was a mistake at the register at REI, and I didn't realize it until I got in the parking lot, but then it was too far to walk back....
Anyway, this is a really great light for those who have been drooling over the stove with a mini mag lite between their teeth, grumbling out commands to fellow campers incoherently. With this entry level lamp, you can use both hands and be understood all at the same time. Battery time varies, so pack extras. If you're worried about using too many batteries, buy the Matrix. 30+ hours plus no hassling with changing batteries in the dark more than justifies the (outrageous) price. Trust me, you'll never go back and your friends' derision will only last a little while, then they'll be asking to borrow it. Oh, and I surf with mine at night too..

Petzl. Nice headlamp, but not waterproof. Found that out the hard way.

A great product. Light, and batteries last forever. Waterproof, and puts out more light than other lamps I've seen costing twice as much.

Summary:
Great product. The Quest is light weight and feels like your wearing nothing on your head. The light out put is good for a regular buld, but when you put a halgon in it's about 3 hours burn time. The light when shown around at night is ok. It only light up about a 5 foot diamiter of space in front of you maybe about 20 feet. It waterproof which makes the headlamp even better.

Customer Service:
All in all a great headlamp for the money. I am getting the Princeton Matrix and will tell all how they compare. No customer service needed. But they do offer a lifetime warrenty.
