Summary:
I have had a Victorinox Swisschamp SAK for many years until stolen. I loved this thing. Only drawback was that nothing locked and I hurt myself a few times using Phillips screwdriver closing on me. I also had an original Leatherman Supertool. I then decided to buy a Wave II for Xmas when they came out in SA. What a beaut!!! Every tool locks and unlocks simply and effectively. I have used it around the house several times and found it to be very user-friendly. A great improvement over the previous Wave model with locking mechanisms and larger blades, plier cutters etc. Very good-looking and very good value for money too. Compact and strong. Nice leather sheath provided.

Customer Service:
Haven't had a need for this yet. Good guarantee.

Summary:
The leatherman wave is the most modern and usefull tool on the market today! It is very similar to the Swiss army version, but i compared them and the Swiss army is made cheaper and less thought put into design. The wave has 4 huge tools (blade, serated blade, saw and diamond file) that open without the tool needed to open, and they lock in place too, and you can open them one handed too! Its all metal, and its really well made. It has all the possible tools you need, except the ruler( who nees persision in the outdoors anyways) . It may be a little pricy, but its worth it even for full price! Lifetime warranty on it! no need to worry!

Reviewed by: J K Rollins ,  Backpacker , from North Wilkesboro, NC

Price Paid:  $52.00 at Ebay

Summary:
In my opinion this is the best multi-tool. For over 7 years I carried one of the original Gerber multi-pliers but finally made the switch to Leatherman because of the one handed opening ability of the knife blades and the very solid locks for these blades.

The Gerber has always had the advantage of the one handed opening pliers but I have always had to carry a seperate pocket knife if I wanted a blade that was accessable with one hand. The Wave eliminates this problem.

It allows me to eliminate a piece of equipment from my pocket and its fine for daily wear or backpacking. I rarely have a day when I fail to use it in some way.

Don't pay a retail price of over $65 though. Ebay has them by the scads for around $50.
