Perfect top for flyfishing. The elastic fabric in sleeve- and side area are great for casting. Similar Products Used: Bergans, Norrøna |

I do not really understand the previous review. I have had mine for over 2 years now and I just cannot stop wearing it. I find it so confortable I now always wear it to sleep on the plane on long journey. This R1 is just incredibley versatile: I usually wear it a capilene underwear and below a fleece and or a shell depending on the weather situation. It is not restricting at all. I am getting so much use of this little number that I will soon have to buy another one. Customer Service No experience after sale. Very good service received in their NYC and Chamonix stores Similar Products Used: MHW chill factor Jacket Patagonia synchilla jacket capilene underwear |

This is the only Patagonia garment I have ever had to return. I returned it because of the defective zipper, but even if the zipper would have worked fine I still would have let it go. The other reviewers obviosly loved it, I found it extremely uncomfortable not just to bare skin, but when worn over capilene as well. Perhaps if i did more climbing I would have held on to it, because it is very thin and not restrictive. But as it is Ill continue to rely on an assortment of capilene of various weights, worn with 375wgt fleece vest when climbing or just more freedom of movement is required on cold days. When it is ball crushing cold with wind to boot, I rely on base layer and R4 fleece, also very thin and very warm, but much more comfortable(to me) and ofcouse its not afraid of the wind. I ordered this piece mostly because of all the positive replies Id read on this site and not one a negative. It was also on a closeout sale. So I hope if youre thinking of ordering without at first inspecting, this review will give you a moment of pause. Customer Service no experience yet. Absolutely the best purchase I have made! I have worn this top almost everyday, since November, 2000, when I purchased it. It breaths and is wind resistant. I have worn it with only a mid-weight capliene top, down to -10F. Of course I was skinning up a mountain. But when I stopped, my core body temperature did not seem to drop much. The most versatile piece I have. Customer Service Fantastic customer service! I order my gear and have it shipped. The UPS delivery person left one of my packages on the deck where my dogs chewed up one of my garments. I called Patagonia and they replaced it. Similar Products Used: None |

Great piece of gear. I have worn it as a base layer in cold weather and a top layer in warmer conditions during a variety of activities. It is warm, breathable and has good wicking ability. The fit is close, but not restrictive. I have put this top "through the ringer" and it is as good as the day I bought it. Customer Service I have not dealt with Patagonia service myself, but I have heard very positive words from those who have. Similar Products Used: None |

I have the women's version of this top which came out a little later. This is a nice breathable top, good for cold-weather climbing, running, and other aerobic activities. The fabric is a bit irritating at first, but I kind of got used to it after a while and it does get slightly softer as you use it. I like how light and packable this is too. Unlike other Patagonia women's items, this top fits me a bit awkwardly though. It's tighter than I want in the waist area, and the body is a bit long for me. Customer Service Their customer service is great! A shirt I had bought got 2 holes in it the first time I wore it, and they had no problems taking it back and sending me a top that was a little more durable for what I was doing. I have not heard any bad things about their service. I also like that they practice what they preach (especially in regards to the environment). Similar Products Used: None |

This piece has become my "secret weapon" garment this Summer. I've used it for mountaineering/peak bagging and taken it on backpacking trips for my sole insulating layer this season. It's great, the fit is what I want it to be (size XL, long enough in the sleeves yet not bulky -I'm 6'-4" and lean) and it layers well. In cool weather I've been wearing it over a mid-weight capilene Zip-T and been comfortable at first light with 30 degree temps and frost about. It breaths/ventilates about as well as can be expected and has enough stretch to make it an ideal climbing layer for anything in the 35-55 degree range. Truly a fave!
