Price Paid:  $400.00 at orvis

Summary:
I bought the latest version of the Trident series. A Trident TLS 4 wt. 9'0" 4 piece rod for 2002 Which is either a down graded version of the old Trident TL series (no titanium giudes, crappy cork handle) or the renaming of the silver label series with a higher price tag.

Customer Service:
really slow (6 weeks minimum to fix)and not interested in the customer once the sale is made

Reviewed by: Anonymous User ,  50+ days a year , from Dahlonega, Ga

Price Paid:  $320.00 at Unicoi Outfitters

Summary:
I got a really good deal on this rod (Trident TL, 9',4 weight, Mid-Flex 8.0) when it went on sale. I had been wanting to purchase a 9', 4 weight for some time now to use as a large river, dry fly rod. This rod fits the bill quite nicely. It is a very smooth casting rod, and is one of the more accurate rods that I have used. Earlier this year, I test casted all of the above mentioned rods, as well as the Trident to see which rod I wanted to purchase. In back to back casting, the Thomas and Thomas's to me were the best casting rods out there, but the Trident was very close. When this rod wen't on sale, I couldn't pass on a good deal and purchased it, even though I was saving for the T&T. Overall, I am very pleased with the rod. I also happen to own at least one line and length version of all the above mentioned rods, so I can use those rods to compare it with. Overall this rod does not transmit the feel of the casting stroke and a fighting fish the way a T&T, Winston, or Scott Eclipse does. Don't get me wrong, it's very nice, it's just not quite as good as the T&T, Winston, or Scott. Also the quality of the cork and the wraps is not quite as good as the other rods. As stated earlier, I am very happy with this rod, but if I had to pay full price for the rod, I would have definitely purchased the Thomas and Thomas. No knock on Orvis, the T&T is just a better built, better casting rod.

Customer Service:
Haven't used, but my main fishing buddy is an Orvis fanatic and has used it several times. He has had outstanding service.
