at Sierra Trading Post Summary: I've used this rod from China's northwest provinces, New Zealand to Virginia. This is by far the most impressive rods I've ever used. The rod loads easily and can cast a mile - it makes working a stream/river a real joy and will not let you down when the wind picks up or your fly gets chomped on by a 8-lb New Zealand steelhead. The locals laughed at my "tiny" five-weight compared to their 7 and 8 weights until the Powell landed the first Bull Trout of the day.
I've used the rod for a year now and have not noticed any wear or tear except from where my thump rubbed a small piece of the cork off. The rod could do with alignment dots, but that's just being picky.
The fast action of the rod takes some getting used to, but once comfortable in your casting stroke, the line shoots like a bullet. Accurate and fast, this is my primary rod on any trip. Customer Service: Unknown; although I hear Powell has discontinued the warranty on the rod series. This would be a real shame. Similar Products Used: Winston and Sage

at Oil Creek Outfitters Summary: I only played with this rod in Mike's back yard. The thing about this rod is the tip loads very well for the up-close work that you really need it for, and you can feel it load, regulate it, and it doesn't feel like a dead stick. But, you can fire out a long cast further than prudence dictates. Unfortunately, it's only 30 or $40 less than the industry benchmark, the Sage XP. But, if you want to be different, and loose NOTHING in fishability, go for the Legacy Advance. Because of the lighter, livelier tip, it feels lighter in the hand and casting than the XP. 30 days a year Summary: I bought this rod on sale as a backup for my Scott Eclipse 905. Reading the 5 star reviews and casting convinced me it's the real deal. The Scott Eclipse is my all time favorite 5 wt, but the LGA is definately competitive and actually more versatile if the wind becomes stiff. Having really enjoyed my former St Croix Legend Ultra, and consider it to be one of the greatest values out there. But I already like of the Powell even more. The LGA could be one of the best "sleepers" out there, and unlike my Scott which I limit to trout waters, this rod is prime to do battle with smallmouth in foothill lakes and streams. Very versatile, and very well appointed rod overall. Customer Service: No experience Similar Products Used: Sage RPL, Scott Eclipse, St Croix Legend Ultra, Loomis GL3.
