Price Paid:  $240.00 at custom builder

Summary:
a very dissapointing rod -it replaced an orvis #8 tipflex and is just too soft for saltwater work with any kind of wind -okay on a nice day but on the flats its a let down on a windy day - leaves the guide looking at you sideways since it doesnt have much backbone.

Customer Service:
not used

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I had serious ferrule jamming problems with a Legend 9'6" 8 weight fly rod after using it for a few steelheading seasons. Basically, the ferrules tended to jam up and the rod would not come apart, especially after fishing with it all day. In fact, I fished one day on the Garcia River here in Northern California and it started to rain and for some strange reason the rod decided to jam at the ferrule that day so bad I couldn't break it down to get it in my car. I ended up driving in the rain all the way home with it sticking out of my window. A lot of my gear and inside of my vehicle got a good soaking to top it off.

Customer Service:
Terrible and extremely poor. Rain story aside, a basic principle is at issue: St. Croix claims lifetime warranty on the Legend line. However, in my attempt to follow up on the Legend "lifetime" warrranty claim, St. Croix wanted to charge me basically for a new rod to replace a rod that had failed in terms of the integrity of the ferrules. They offered me an Avid as a replacement for a Legend, so go figure. As I said, the rod was fine for a few seasons, but that's it. If you want a rod that will last, don't buy a St. Croix!!! Definetly spend the extra $80 or so bucks and get a rod that you can trust. If you're really interested or have had similar problems with St. Croix customer service or warranties, I have copies of my reply to the customer service department, and I have copies of their reply--basically a demand letter to replace my rod. I'm not one for cliches, but in the case of St. Croix, you get what you pay for . . .

Price Paid:  $300.00 at Bass pro Shops

Summary:
The hype about this rod is definately justified. I own the UFT908 model and am 100% satisfied. It is a bit soft for a "fast" rod, but that really helps when trying to be delicate in sight fishing. Just enough backbone for distance casting too. The other thing about this rod is it is cosmetically stunning. Non-glare finish is great. Titanium reel seat is strong and reliable. Meticulous craftsmanship (better than my more expensive Orvis Trident TL)

Customer Service:
Outstanding, replaced/fixed rod for free no questions asked.

Summary:
This is a great light saltwater or heavy freshwater rod. A powerful rod to cast into the wind without loosing its sensitivity. Great quality for a mid priced rod. I prefer 4-piece rods for travel but this one is comfortable to carry too. As all St.Croix, you'll buy a great rod for the middle of the price as many rods. Grat cosmetics, I like it's titanium reel seat with double ring, and it's non-glare finish. Before you buy an expensive rod, try a St.Croix Legend Ultra, you'll love it.

Customer Service:
I didn't recieve the Registration Card with the rod from the dealer. I contacted St.Croix and they help me soon.

Summary:
This is a great light saltwater rod that shoots line extremely well. If you are thinking about fishing the salt, this is a great tool! The non-glare finish makes so much sense for angling for spooky fish in the shallows.

Customer Service:
Have not used it.
