Price Paid:
$695.00 Summary: Soft tip, and great fish fighting ability. With heavy flies and in the wind, it's not the greatest. Great fit, finish, and workmanship Customer Service: A little slow to receive the rod back after I broke a tip. But got the rod back in perfect condition Similar Products Used: G Loomis GLX, Sage XP

at Virtual Fly Shop Cla Summary: I can't say enough good about the BL5, although I wonder why it's under FW rods. I've caught bonefish, false albacore, stripers, bluefish, mackerel, and other fish with it. Once I learned to adjust to its slow action (don't know why Winston thinks it's fast) I did much better casting it. It throws a TS 350 line like a bullet, 80 feet is no prblem. And terrific lifting power, amazing how it can lift strong fish like false albacore from a boat. Soft action makes it a joy to cast all day. Customer Service: n/a Similar Products Used: There aren't any similar products, but competing products used include T&T Horizon, Sage RPLX, Scott Powerply

, from Bodega Bay, CA USA Summary: A very nice casting tool, but not the best for all conditions. An excellent fish fighting rod, very forgiving with its deep flex. The five pieces make for easy traveling. Customer Service: Good, All of my rods were built from blanks. When building the 8 & 9 weight blanks into rods I discovered that some of the 8 wt sections miked larger than the 9 wt sections. Winston quickly made the necessary corrections. 50+ days a year Summary: Winstons are the epitomy of excellence in materials and workmanship. Above all the thing about this rod that sold me was it performed better casting a 9 wt line than my older 9wt rod did and also casts the twelve weight line as advertised. A super rod! Customer Service: Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service. Similar Products Used: Loomis, Sage, St Croix, Fenwick
