Summary: This is my all-purpose trout rod, hefty enough for big water, accurate enough for the spring creeks. I prefer the old IM6 action (slower and more "tippy") to the newer and faster BL5, and I think it gives the rod more punch into the wind. Works with 6 or 7 wt line and is an excellent streamer rod.
Customer Service: Excellent, with never a quibble about whether it's covered by the warranty. There is a return shipping charge

Summary: I own three Winstons and they are my favorites! I owned a fly shop years ago and had a chance to fish all the top rods. Just because a rod is expensive is no guarantee that it is good. . .there is some high priced junk on the market. But the Winston's are consistent in their quality and their action is unique. I don't think there is a better rod around, at least for the type of large trout fishing I do. My six wgt will throw a streamer out into the backing without much effort. Even though you'll choke at the price, they are good values because they will last, and last, and last . . .
Customer Service: The best; will take care of their customers; you pay for the service, but if you ever have a problem it will be taken care; think of the Winston's high price as buying insurance in case something goes wrong. I have visited the plant in Montana and these guys are pros!

Summary: A sweet, smooth caster with great versatility. If you enjoy feeling a rod work, as I do, you'll enjoy this rod. I use mine most for smallmouth fishing and it excels at tossing moderate-sized bass bugs and weighted streamers like Clouser minnows with a bass taper line. It also handles trout in our Michigan spring creeks like the Au Sable with an SA Mastery XPS line. Three-piece construction makes it an easy airline carry-on for trips out west. A great all-around rod for those of us who don't particularly like the ultrastiff actions that have become popular recently.
Customer Service: No need for any in the seven years I've owned it.
