, from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Summary: OK rod but nothing to rave about. If you're lokking for value and performance but don't want to pay Sage prices buy the St. Croix Legend Ultra instead - a much better rod for roughly the same price. (I love mine!) Strengths: Cheap blank - at least then (5 years ago) Weaknesses: Blank quality control seems poor - sent first back to factory because it was excessively warped. Intial shipping from factory was slooooow, replacement was a little better but not much. Blank (8wt 4 piece) is heavy and slow compared to others available for roughly same price, but otherwise has held up well in heavy freshwater (salmon, big Alaskan rainbows, big Canadian pike) and light saltwater applications. I've retired mine in favor of a St. Croix Legend Ultra 3 piece 8 wt which is much faster and lighter for just a little more $. Customer Service: I got the definite impression that I was being strung along about shipping delays. Similar Products Used: Sage RPL+ 4 piece St. Croix Legend Ultra 3 piece
