, from Austin, Tx Body of Water: Laguna Madre Favorite State: Texas Summary: This is a really lovely rod, durable, with great feel and enough spine to present flies in moderate wind (20mph) with no problem.
This is my favorite saltwater rod and it has really been a pleasure. I am not sure why, but I find this rod less tiring than similar 7 wt rods when I fish over long periods of time. I am very partial to Sage rods in general, so I may not be the most objective observer, but for the price, I think you would be very hard pressed to find a better 7wt flyrod. Strengths: Excellent feel. Great butt section and soft tip. Handles large redfish and spotted seatrout very well. Very responsive with wide array of flies. Durable. Weaknesses: Reel seat is fair, but not great. Customer Service: My experience with Sage has been excellent. I have sent a broken rod for repair and it was well done and timely.
