50+ days a year Body of Water: Babine River -- Favorite City: Smithers Favorite State: BC Favorite Country: CA Summary: A good solid rod, but I would opt for the updated RLPXi. The RLPXi is a little bit better of a caster. Strengths: The RLPX has an incredibly strong butt section that really helps when fighting fish. I took this rod with me to Mazatlan, Mexico and fought a few large dorado. The flex of the rod kept the fight fun and challenging, while the stiff butt section provided the backbone when I needed to stop a run, or move the fish. The three piece is really nice for travelling, as most two piece rods are a major hassle to carry on a plane. With the three piece you can carry it on, if you wish. Weaknesses: I felt that the RLPX was a little bit too stiff, overall. Even casting with an 11 wt. tarpon taper intermediate sink line, it took about 30 feet of line out to really load the rod up so I could cast effectively. Customer Service: Sage is excellent, usually. I have had to use the warranty three times for various rods, and only once did it take more than a few weeks to get my rod back to me repaired. Similar Products Used: RLPXi, RLP+
