Scott HP - 10 wts

Description
Heliply Series rods are Scott's easiest casting, most durable saltwater fly rods. Their 8'8 length makes them balance lighter in the hand than a 9' rod and slice through the wind with less resistance...

Great rod for small to medium offshore species.
Powerful yet very easy to cast.
I overload this rod with a SA Bluewater taper 11 wt line.

None

Summary:
Scott rods are simply the best I have 7 of them from a 6'10 4 weight trout rod to a 12 weight HP which is dying to be broken in. I would be more than happy to discuss any of the rods that I own with you, I have a G704/3, SES855/3,G906/2, STS1006, STS908/3, HP8810/3 and A HP8812/3

Strengths:
This 10 weight is the best 10 weight I have ever owned and I have had Sage and Loomis High end models. The 8'8 inch3 piece is ideal it has tremendous lifting power and cast effortlessly into stiff winds. I like it so much I recently bought a 12 wt HP and am looking for a 7wt HP

Weaknesses:
None

Customer Service:
I broke a tip on my eight weight from scott (STS 908/3) and it was repaired and returned within 2 weeks. Loomis took over 10 weeks to return my rod which I promptly sold after that.

Body of Water:
Deep Blue Water --

Summary:
IF I ever have this one stolen, I would immediately buy another without testing anything else.
This is a 10wt review, but the same holds true for the 8 and 12 wt (see note under weaknesses)

Strengths:
Great punch casting rod (drop the fly, throw and shoot line back, haul and shoot).
Loads superbly, very accurate shooting casts, at long or shot distances.
Very light, spot cast to mangroves all day long with a nice light reel (like a Bauer M5)
With the softer tip than many, I find that customers cast better with these scott HP rods than with the super fast rods. It takes a few minutes to get them to stop false casting and shoot the line instead, but.... we start getting more fish. They cast as far, quicker, and with a higher percentage of straight line landings.

Weaknesses:
If anything, not good at false casting lots of line, but why would you want to do that??
Cost is up in the range, but worth it.
(This is the 10 wt review, but I wish the 12wt had a foregrip.)

Customer Service:
Broke a tip solo landing a blackfin last summer, repaired quickly and well.
