, from Orlando, FL Body of Water: Offshore Florida East Coast, Bahamas, Puerto Rico Summary: Great casting rod. Overload this rod when casting large Billfish flies. Cork over the reel seat will not last long. I can only hope customer service will take care of it.
Strengths: This rod has to be the easiest heavyweight rod to cast. Very soft tip allows false casting if you wanted to. Very powerful butt reinforced with fiberglass. Weaknesses: Reel seat does not seem to be very durable - the reel sits on top of cork. I placed my Billy Pate Bluefin reel on it and it already deformed the cork reel seat. I can see the reel seat falling apart after a long fight with a Billfish. Rod only has one reel uplocking ring that screws - the second uplocking ring simply slides over the reel foot and has an O-ring that already is stretched out of shape. Similar Products Used: None
