Price Paid:  $580.00 at bob marriott's

Body of Water:
Ausable River

Favorite State:
Michigan

Summary:
I bought this rod, 9'6" 8 wt., specifically to fish for salmon on the Muskegeon and other rivers in Michigan. Long casts are not needed often, but accuracy is very important. Many days are filled with short distance casting with heavy weights and running line, in order to get down deep in the current. This rod is perfect. Casts effortlessly, comfortable all day, and most importantly it was excellent for fighting the fish. My only reservation is that an 8 wt. is not strong enough for the larger salmon 20# and up, in the stronger currents. I plan on buying the 9'6" 10 weight in the future. I plan on using this 8 wt. for east coast stripers this summer.

Strengths:
Powerful, effortless casting, comfortable, fit and finish outstanding. I agree with the reviewer above that the rod is a bit softer than say the Horizon series, but then that is what the company describes it as. I have practiced in the yard, and can throw almost as much line as I can with my Horizon 9' 9wt.

Weaknesses:
None. Performs exactly as I had hoped

Customer Service:
Not needed so far, cannot comment.

Body of Water:
moving water

Summary:
this rod is slower than the regular horizon, but I once fished it all day with a 9 weight line (its an 8 wt rod) and didn't know till the end of the day when I took the spool off the reel. It is a strong rod, loads easily and is comfortable to cast, and generates a lot of line speed easily. slight hinging feeling beyond 80' but shoots another 30 at that much, so plenty of balls with a smooth stroke. If you cast a lot, consider this rod. It would also make a great steelhead rod.

Strengths:
smooth casting rod. loads easy with a deeper flex than most fast action rods. definitely slower than the regular horizon, but a strong taper.

Weaknesses:
at about 80 feet of aerilized line I can feel a slight hinging. I usually shoot line at 70 so this doesn't matter too much, but when really pushed hard, there is a light fold above the cork

Customer Service:
exc.
