at West Coast Tackle Body of Water: Skagit River Favorite State: BC/WA Summary: One of the best buys I've found in this category. Strengths: Amazing how much water can be covered with this rod, have fished with the 9140-4 and this is far superior. Longer casts with less effort and good control. Weaknesses: A little faster then I'm used to, takes some time to use the rod to it's potential. Similar Products Used: Sage 9140-4

$600.00 Summary: if you're serious about your fishing sage are the best you can buy - they are light and powerful. between my friends and i we've had the opportunity to try alot of rods and nothing else even comes close. Strengths: these are the finest rods made - strong but sensitive for medium rivers the discontinued 12.6 is the best rod ever produced - old battered 12.6 rods are worth more than the new 12.4 Weaknesses: i saw a 15 foot rod where the reel seat came loose Customer Service: never used but i'm p** off that they stopped making the 11.3 version Similar Products Used: Daiwa - Hardy - Scierra

, from belvedere, Ca. USA Summary: I use this rod all through the Northwest and British Columbia. This rod rules the big steelhead rivers of the Northwest and British Columbia. It is so much easier to cast than many of the traditional Spey rods I've tried. It really does not take much effort to get the line moving in the right direction. That is not to say you will be able to cast it perfect every time, but if your timing is on you will be very surprised at the results. The rod is a little slow for overhand casting but it can be done. I used it up on the Skeena River last year where long casts make a difference. I was able to Spey cast and overhand cast it to the fish. Sometimes the fish were in the middle of a 200 ft wide run and you needed to get the line into the middle of the river. I spoke with many other anglers up there that feel the same way as I do about this rod, it is the best. Strengths: This rod enables you to cover so much water it's awesome. Very easy to learn on. Extra length allows you to make very large mends with little effort. It is lighter than you would imagine. The handle is very comfortable. Weaknesses: None Customer Service: Similar Products Used: loomis
