Body of Water:
Bulkley River --

Favorite Country:
 British Columbia

Summary:
Great rod for beginner or accomplished spey caster and simply can't beat the price at $230.

Strengths:
The 14 foot 9/10 weight St. Croix has a progressive action. It is much stiffer than the 14-foot 9-weight Sage 4-piece, but softer than the 14'foot 9-weights offered by Winston and Thomas&Thomas. I think it is a good compromise. I spey cast exclusively with it, using the 9/10/11 Rio Wincutter and the 9/10/11 Rio Accelerator. A fine spey rod at a third the price of most others.

Weaknesses:
Not as many guides as pricier rods, though doesn't seem to miss them. The blank is fairly heavy for a 9-weight and the finish will peel off if you leave electrical tape stuck to it.

Customer Service:
Don't know.

Body of Water:
Grand River --

Favorite City:
Fergus

Favorite State:
Ontario

Favorite Country:
 Canada

Summary:
I have cast as much as 120' and routinely over 90'. Very easy, light action that enables an angler to fish all day without needing physio after. Rollcasts over 60' easily (300 grain sinktip line!) and mends very well. I have used it with floating, intermediate, 300 grain sinktips and shooting heads and it handled them all well. Size and weight of fly is irrelevant; large, heavy saltwater clousers sail out like a 14# Adams.

Strengths:
Very low effort casting.
Good for short as well as long casts.
Amazing in the surf.

Weaknesses:
Too few guides.
Intolerant of sloppy casting technique.
