Price Paid:  $150.00 at Angler's Lie

Body of Water:
Gunpowder River

Favorite City:

Favorite State:

Favorite Country:

Summary:
This is a great vest for someone who carries quite a few fly boxes. Additionally, I've found the weight distribution to be far superior to any other vest that I've worn, so much so that I'm noticeably less tired at the end of a long day. The water resistance is excellent.

Strengths:
Water resistant; plenty of roomy pockets; concealed zingers; very comfortable shoulder yoke.

Weaknesses:
None that I've discovered.

Customer Service:

Reviewed by: Anonymous User ,  50+ days a year , from Eureka, CA

Summary:
On the whole I like the vest. On those occasions when I really need, or think I need, to carry a lot of gear, the vest comes through. I am however disappointed in the quality of workmanship demonstrated by a bad seam.

Strengths:
Many roomy pockets. Maybe too many; the vest holds so much it encourages me to carry more than is necessary.

Weaknesses:
Color is too light. I think now you can get it in a green or olive, but when I bought mine it only came in an off-white. The collar while padded somehow cuts into my shoulders even with a light load. One of the large fly box pocket seams came unstitched with less than a full season of use.

Customer Service:
I e-mailed them about the pocket and never received a response. Perhaps they never received the e-mail, but it doesn't make me happy none-the-less. The fact that the pocket came unstitched on a vest costing this much with about 15 days of use is simply not right. You expect that on a $20 vest maybe, but not on one costing major bucks and from a company with a reputation like Simms.

I tried the Adventure Hardware Steelheader and thought it was too bulky when loaded. I bought the Simms and there is no comparison in construction and function.

Strengths:
Construction and fabric is superb. Does not seem too bulky when loaded. Plenty of storage for anyone!

Weaknesses:
None. You expect the best from Simms and they deliver.
