Price Paid:  $300.00 at SF

Body of Water:
Can't tell you

Summary:
This is my favorite trout reel by far. Great, sensitive drag, light weight, terrific fit and finish. It is simply a gorgeous reel, and just as functional.

Strengths:
See above.

Weaknesses:
They run small. I needed the #5 reel to for a 4 wt. weight forward line and decent backing. Just order a reel one size larger than you think you'll need. Also, they are not cheap, which is why a only give it a 4 value rating.

Summary:
I have the Ultralite Disc #6 and for reels of its size I found this to have a terrific drag system and great, Hardy style. It's as smooth, and as well-built a reel that you'll find in its price range.

Strengths:
Great drag system andoverall workmanship

Weaknesses:
None

Reviewed by: Anonymous User ,  40 days a year , from Finland

Price Paid:  $190.00 at Finland

Body of Water:
Finnmark

Favorite Country:
Norway

Summary:
#2/3/4 is great reel for lighweight flyfishing. Too small to class 4. Drag can be adjusted to protect the thinnest tippets, but it has a great capasity of power in it's backpocket. Don't let this reel hit any rocks, you'll notice the results in the finish. You really hear the fish running!

Strengths:
Lightness, big dragknob, silky drag, "Hardy click"

Weaknesses:
finish isn't very durable

Summary:
If you need a high quality, bar stock reel that has very fine drag adjustment, then this is your reel. Drag works when wet (something alot of other reels won't do) and the reel is truly beautiful. I use the #7 on my six weight rod and it is perfect. You cannot go wrong with this model!

Strengths:
Beautifully made, quality throughout. Smooth as silk. Great reel for using light tippits on.

Weaknesses:
Overpriced, but most Hardy reels are at this time

Customer Service:
Never used, thankfully

Summary:
An excellent Spey reel. Importantly, the disk drag does not slip when it gets wet, unlike other brands (e.g. Ross). This is a lifetime reel, and it really sings like a Hardy only can!!!

Strengths:
Wide drag adjustment
Lightweight
Smooth as silk
Great looks and sound
***Drag works when wet***

Weaknesses:
a bit pricey, but it IS a barstock reel
