Summary: I recently returned from an intense 8 day Salmon trip in the Alaskan bush. We fished the Okuma 5/6 for trophy Rainbow, Arctic Char, and Grayling and the 7/8 for Silver (Coho) salmon exceeding 35". It was worked along side both Orvis and Redington reels of similar weights. We were fishing 8 hours a day and the Okuma reels both performed extremely well.
Customer Service: Not needed as none of the Okuma reels needed any service.

Summary: Good priced reel (price in Euro) with options for left/righthand/noise no noise. Be careful near riverbeds with stones, easy scratching.
Brake could be better finetuned.
This reel gives beginners like me the experienced look.
This reel does what it must do, a 5 for price a 4 for brake and bad paintwork
Strengths: •Price
•Easy change from left to right.
•Silent on retrieve, loud when line is pulled out.
The spring responsable for the tension on the rattle is within a second removed and you've got a total silent reel.
Weaknesses: I'm a beginner but if you would see my reel you'll think i'll got it from my grandad, so scratched it is. But who cares everybody can see how "experienced" i am.
•The brake could be more fine tuned and have a bibber round knob.

Summary: Great reel. Most of the shops around here have them for $30-$40. I would compare it to a $80 reel and for only $15 for an extra spool it is great for anywhere. I have only used mine a couple of times but have been very pleased. The salesman at the shop said his son fishes his very hard and it rough on his equipment but the reel still works like new. Great design!
Strengths: Light, unbelievable value, cheap extra spools. Sensitive drag system, very smooth.
Weaknesses: Could have tougher Anodization.
