The North Face Surge is fantastic - it has a compartment for a laptop (if needed) plus ample space in the main compartment and side pockets.
I use it for both work and hiking.
The shoulder straps are extra padded which makes it a very comfortable bag to use. This, along with their 'backsaver technology' makes it an overall fantastic backpack to buy. Highly recommended!
