I purchased the Rail 22 series. They are my favorite boot by far. I have a very high instep. My feet never get cold and I love, love this boot. They are a little heavy and in terms of looking like a frakenstein boot. However, they have great walking latches too. Will only buy this brand in the future.

I first saw the Kneissl soft boots on sale and decided to try them on, wow did they feel great. comfy and warm I purchased them ready to hit the slopes. This is where my opinion of the boots changed drastically. The boots have too much flex and I could not get them adjusted properly to my feet. the liner would pinch and my feet constantly cramped making last season the worst season of skiing. these boots Cannot be adjusted like four buckle ski boots and in my opinion are not worth your money. The original price is around $400 but i feel sorry for anyone who had to pay that much. i give them 1 out of five just because I think they look nice.

very solid, very comfortable, warm, hold your feet in well, lacing system + 2 velcro + 1 buckle, flexes forward and back really really good, flexes side to side very little, but some.

not as light as I wish they were, but they aren't any heavier than the average boot. salomon verse & performance are much lighter but don't feel as solid. the ski/walk switch doesn't do much more for walking, but that's not all that important.

i have the 2003/04 Kneissl Rails & THEY ARE GREAT! now only if they were just as light as my TRS skates... they'd be perfect. $150 for them. can't pass that up, they're easily equal to a $400 boot.

Couldn't feel any difference in the walk/ski lever.

I was looking for a comfortable replacement boot for my odd sized foot (very wide & high instep), and decided to give soft boots a look after failing to find comfortable plastic boots at half dozen ski shops. I was going to purchase the Nordica Smartech boots, but couldn't find my size in the stiffer Smartech 10. The shop also had the Kneissl Rail boot, which I found very comfortable, but also not as stiff as I would like given my 190 lb weight. So I looked on Kneissl's website and found that the boot I tried was actually the 2001-02 model, and the 2002-03 model comes in three degrees of stiffness. I also discovered that the reason you didn't see any Kneissl boots in stores was because their North American distributor went out of business and was being replaced. In other words, you could buy the boot in Europe or Japan, but not in North America. I did find exactly what I wanted on ebay. There's nothing like getting a $500 boot for only $119! I purchased the Scandium model. Of course the real test would be on the slopes, and I can tell you that this pair of boots was BY FAR the most comfortable boots I have ever worn in my life! Lateral and forward stiffness was more than adequte for my ability level. The Thermo-fit liner is extremely comfortable and molded itself to my foot. At lunch and apres I found that I didn't even loosen my boot latches, while in the past that's the first thing I'd do to ease the pain of my feet. Bottom line: This boot significantly increased the enjoyment of my ski experience. I would recommend soft boots, and this boot in particular, to anyone currently not 100% happy with their current "hard" boots.
