Summary:
My son and I have both used a Ranger (large size) for about three years now, and I have no real complaints. It is capable of carrying just about anything you'd care to bring along for a trek of 2-10 days. The problem, in fact, is that it almost encourages you to bring too much stuff. The suspension system is very adjustable, so my son has been able to keep his fitting comfortably despite his constant growth. The pockets are large and handy to use, and the tilted water bottle pouch is very handy. I like the plastic frames - no creaking and rattling like the aluminum versions. The only problem we had was that one of the plastic strap buckles bent and I nearly broke it trying to bend it back into shape. This may not be the highest quality pack out there, but I'll take it over a JanSport or Eureka any day. For the price (we paid less than $90 for ours), a great buy for all but the most demanding users.
