Price Paid:  $150.00 at Appalachian Outfitters

Summary:
Bought this pack about 7 or 8 years ago, unfortunately at full price, unlike anyone else here. It was my first backpack, and less expensive than anything else of comparible quality. It's been a good pack, but it's about time to retire it for something more technical (read 'expensive'). It's still in great shape, but it lacks some of the features I need now, such as a good way to carry and ice ax, shovel and snowshoes. The only problem I've had over the years is that the nylon covering on one of the shoulder straps ripped. Don't remember how it happened, but I fixed it up good with a little duct tape. It's done equally well on overnights and weeklong trips into the Colorado, California and Idaho wilderness. I'd recommend this pack for anyone who is looking for a first backpack, or just doesn't have the money to spend on something of better quality. Check out Campmor for good deals. I believe it's currently on sale (11/00).

Summary:
like the bags high volume capacity, however it seems that after 50l bs. she gets a little uncomfy. I got mine from campmor also for like $100.00. I feel that I got my money worth and that it is a very durable pak for the beginner or even the experienced outdoorsman who wants to use it for those short 2-4 day excursions. To big for dayhikes. Pocket layout is decent. Forthe purpose I bought the bag it has served me very well

Summary:
A pretty good pack, decent weight and size. Good for a weekend or a couple days trip wouldn't take for anything much longer. I do like the kitchen pocket on the outside it is good for organizing small things. Overall it is a good pack but i wouldn't pay more than $100 for it otherwise it is not worth it.

Summary:
I have the External Frame version and am totally pleased with the harness system and load capacity. At 6'3" the Larger bag and frame are perfect for those three day trips I take with the Boy Scouts. Yep, the kitchen pocket is a valuble extra. This bag is topped out at 5400 ci. Try to find a better bag for the buck! About $130 retail. This is my third bag in my lifetime and I think I'll hang on to it :-)
