at campmor Summary: I went on two winter day hikes on Mt Washington (NH) and Mt Slide (Catskills, NY), and this boot was quite warm, dry and comfortable. It also worked well with crampons, and I felt confident on them on sheer ice. The boot has adequate, but not great, rigidity (maybe from the steel shank).
I previously rented plastic boots for Mt Adams (NH), which was not as comfortable and my feet still got wet. The only benefit from the plastic boots was the extra rigidity and traction. In any case, I was happy to find a cheap alternative to more serious and expensive mountaineering boots. Similar Products Used: Plastic mountaineering boots

at REI Summary: Just returned from multiple day trip in Yosemite. I trekked through two feet of fresh powder and experianced nights down into single digits. These boots kept my feet dry and warm. They also were very comfortable. The only complaint is about the laces. They are painfull to tie and nearly impossible to secure to your foot if they are frozen. Customer Service: no experiance Similar Products Used: none
