Summary:
When I got this bag I was very excited about it. But after only one night, I woke up to find my tent full of little little 850 count down feathers. Somehow, I ripped two small holes near the foot of my bag and another hole in the small of my back. I am a restless sleeper but this was unacceptable. I love having a bag that is so light, but next time I will trade a few onces for a bag that does not have such a thin skin.

I bought two other hydrogens, one for my wife and one for my son. They are going back to the store.

Price Paid:  $299.00 at On-line

Summary:
I took the Hydrogen on a 9 day fastpack in Southern Utah. I usually sleep cold so I was little nervous about the temperature rating. Most of the nights were 40 - 55 degrees. Some of the nights were windy and the temperature felt coller. I slept well every night. Marmots hood pull was very useful. The cinched up upper section of the bag kept my head and face warm, which warmed up the rest of my body. I was in a downpour in a flimsy bivy which did start to leak. The bag got a little wet, but I stayed warm. The compact size and weight were perfect for fastpacking. A half zip bag made me nervous, but was never a frustration on a warm night. I wish the down feathers could not escape, but this is not possible.
This is a great bag. I will add liners as needed.

After my first Marmot Grouse and Quail down bags, I am hooked. I would not buy a bag from another company.

Price Paid:  $192.00 at Snow Leopard Mountai

Summary:
This bag is the 900 fill 2003 model of the Hydrogen. The bag is well made. The stiching is quality. At 1 pound 5oz and 30 degrees, it is super light weight. I plan on using a silk liner which will add about 5 oz and 6-7 degrees. So I will have a 1 pound 10oz sleep system rated at about 24 degrees. The bag is roomy so it's not as efficient as the close fitting Western Mountaineering bags. However, I sleep warm so the bag’s temperature rating is correclty rated for me. This bag is also a little lighter than the Western Mountaineering bags (Megalight +4oz, Ultralight +7oz). Since I have the silk liner I don’t think the half zipper will be a problem – if it’s too warm I will probably just use the silk liner and lay part of the bag over me. I was considering the Western Mountaineering Ultralight or Megalight as well, but at the $191.99 price for the Hydrogen, I couldn’t pass this deal up.

Customer Service:
I owned a Marmot Goretex Jacket which had a zipper problem and sent it in to Marmot. It was fixed in a few days and sent back with no questions asked. Very good customer service.

Price Paid:  $320.00 at Robinson''s

Summary:
I used the Hydrogen on many west coast mountaineering trips this year. So far, I am pretty satisfied with it. However, I find the temp. rateing to be overestimated. I think the bag is most comfortable at +5c. If the weather was not as damp as the west coast, I guess it might be ok down to 0c. I really like the half zipper idea; shave off that unnecessary weight! Hydrogen has a big volume. This means that a small person would find too much space inside the bag, and thus sleep colder. I wish Marmot would make some small Hydrogen size.

Haven''t had to deal with C.S. yet.

Price Paid:  $200.00 at Running Free

Summary:
A warm and cozy sleeping bag which happens to be one of the lightest sub-zero sleeping bags on the market.

The only complaint I have is with the half length zipper. Although this may seem insignificant, it can also make the difference between sweaty/freezing legs - and believe me, you don't want to sweat in a down bag.

Checked out the Sierra Designs Moonlight as well but this one doesn't have a zipper at all !
