Price Paid:  $175.00 at La vie Sportive

Summary:
This bags have more cons that i've expect. First, the zipper snag easily, the hood is not comfortable, the draft tube kill me if i try to keep my warm, near 30. It have no cushion in the tube. MHW made good products but the price is too big for the products. Now i can't live without Sierra Desins bags

Reviewed by: Kevin ,  Backpacker , from Port Angeles, WA

Price Paid:  $150.00 at Local Store

Summary:
Great bag for 90% of the hiking that I do. My other two bags are down and this is the second synthetic I've owned (the other one sucked). I've been backpacking for about a decade and I've done some long sections of both the AT & PC trails. Longest stretch was the northern half of the AT in the fall of 96. I picked up this bag for two reasonns.

#1. My Feathered Friends down bag was too tight for comfort (I've put on a little weight since using it on the AT).

#2. I needed something for warmer weather. The expansion joint in the 1st Dimension is a great idea. I often get colder close to morning and it is a great way to regulate comfort. I don't know how the insulation is going to hold up. I expect it won't last anything like my down bags but if I get 2-3 years of use out of it I'll be happy. So far so good. There is also some benefit to the performance of synthetics in wet conditions. I never had real problems with down so that wasn't and issue but it does allow me to be lazier about packing and using the bag in the rain/snow.

Overall I'd say this is a great product. The tempeture rating is accurate (at least when new), the build quality is good and it was priced attractively. Add in the unique expansion system and I would feel safe in recommending this bag for good three season use.

Summary:
Excellent bag. Packs small. Light. Warm. The expander is great. You can use this bag in a very wide temperature range- everything zipped, expander open, zipper open on bottom, zipper open on bottom and expander open, zipper completely open.... etc. etc. etc. Great price too.

Price Paid:  $130.00 at hudson trail

Summary:
This is my frist decetn bag. I've been very happy with it. I have the long and I'm 6'3" and it fits me well. The size is right and so too is the weight. All in all I'd say this is one of those products where you get what you paid for. In this case it's a good product.

The bag is rated to 30 degrees. I've never been out colder than that so I can't tell how it would be in cold situations. Still, if you're looking for a three season bag, this is it.
