Summary: When you own a Western Mountaineering Puma SDL and lay at night dozing in the sub-zero temperatures, you are wrapped within a work of art. The Puma SDL is a hot sack. I have the 4 oz. overfill bringing my bag to about -25 and 3lb. 11oz (the 5'6" version). I only got this bag in Jan. of 2005 so the coldest it has seen is about negative 5 in central Idaho - I was so comfortable. Nice deep hood with the ingenious reverse-differential cut creating lots of extra material to mold around your face - perfect. I have never been cold -I have been too warm. Depending how you sleep, about +10 degrees might be too warm unless completely unzipped. That being said - I am now in the process of getting an Ultralite to use in those situations. Though you pay the extra price, you get all your money's worth. Made in the USA is so important. The stitching is impecable. I've never had the zipper snag. The materials are tops and the attention to detail is unsurpassed - the heavier material in the footbox is a good example. When you finally break down and decide the best is the best you'll want to sleep in it every night - don't you'll sweat too much!

Summary: I found my Puma Super DL at the Unclaimed Baggage Store in Scottsboro, Alabama. That's where they send your luggage if the airline loses it. I found it in perfect condition at the bottom of a pile of cheap bags. I was unfamiliar with the Western Mountaineering name, but needless to say, I was pretty sure paying $35 would justify the price for the bag! When I got home I called information and talked to the folks at W.M. who explained that I had a Super Puma DL -price tag $600+! The guy on the other end of the phone couldn't believe the price I had paid! I guess I should feel bad for the guy who paid full price and then lost it on his flight. I'm pretty sure I got the best deal in history. It's an unbelievably well-crafted bag. Kept me warm on some big western trips. If God had a sleeping bag this would be it...
Customer Service: I haven't needed to have any repairs done, but the guys in San Jose were really helpful.

Summary: This bag rocks! I used it on Aconcagua and Rainier in below zero temps and was toasty. I liked it so much, I bought the company - kidding - I really did buy one for my climbing partner, who is a cold sleeper and she was just perfect. The Dryloft shell was really helpful in 50 mph winds blowing tons of snow into the tent. Stuufs really small with a compression stuffsack and is reasonably light for its temp rating.

Summary: Another winner by Western Mountaineering. Mine is overfilled w/ 4oz of down. I have used it during the winter season here in AK and love its warmth. It fits my dimensions very well. Never had a problem with the dryloft shell, but have noticed that it has helped with outside moisture, especially my own vapor from breathing. As with any bag a VBL is necessary for longer trips to keep the moisture from building up inside. The reinforced foot section gives added security for when i put my boot liners inside overnight. It is a large bag and to fit it inside my pack requires a compression sack. The hood is excellent as well as those draft tubes. All of my friends have been converted to WM bags because they see mine in action.
Customer Service: They take awhile to get made if they are custom or ordered, but quality is worth the wait
