Summary:
I agonized long and hard over this sleeping bag purchase. I had it narrowed down to a 15 degree down Western Mountaineering or Marmot. I wanted the best bag I could find, and finally decided to go Western Mountaineering. I tried the WM Apache and found it very restricting. I'm 6' 190 lbs and the Apache hugged my shoulders. Way too tight for me. I bought the Badger because of its larger cut and I'm overjoyed at this bag. There's room to move, and very warm. The collar and hood are extremely functional, and the bag is silky and comfortable and lofty. My first night was not a good test, only mid 30 degrees, but I couldn't zip it up. I love this bag.

Summary:
What a great sleeping bag. I just returned home from a backpacking trip on the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska and the Yukon. We had rain for two nights and it was cloudy most of the trip. This sleeping bag has lots of room to turn in and kept me warm throughout the trip. On warm nights I would just throw it over me and on one cool night it was zipped up tight and I slept so well. The 850 plus down really was nice and comfortable. I have the size long and it weighs 2# 14 oz. on the dot. What a pleasure it is to sleep in this bag. One of the best purchases I have made.

Summary:
A great bag. Very warm and very comfortable with a lot of room for this broad shouldered man. My coliure started getting too hot at night as the spring came in so I bought a cooler bag rated to 20 degreese that had more room on the inside than my marmont which is the badger. I like this bag it too is a down bag which is light 2lb12oz. They make lighter bags but I wanted the micro fiber for the water prooofness and durability. so far I am pleased with it, but it's not as comfortable as the marmont around my face but roomier on the inside all in all I think the badger is a great bag and will carry it as my primary bag on my AT section hike this year.

Price Paid:  $400.00 at NOC

Summary:
Western Mountaineering is the best bag company in the mix. High, high quality, very light, very packable, very plush and warm. I'll never buy anything but WM. This bag is versital. The down can be shifted on top or under you dependeing on your choice of temp. It suits me 0 to 40 degrees great mountain bag. Micro fiber is light and lofts great and is very water resistant(I've shaken an inch of snow and a heavy mornning dew off with no problem, but it's not "waterproof") Go with WM they are worth the $$$.

Price Paid:  $325.00 at Sierra Outfitters

Summary:
I have owned more down bags than I can remember from good companies. Spent an hour or so going over all the details in the shop and decided the price was justified. These bags are very light, very compact, have highest quality zippers and details. This model of bag is quite a bit wider than most which I really wanted for comfort. The temperature rating is 20 degrees. I have done lots of winter camping in severe snow storms and zero temperatures. This bag handles them easily. The microfiber material seems quite fragile but holds up well and repels water pretty good. I put the bag foot area into my rain parka to keep tent wall condensation from being rubbed into the bag MF material. The Gore Activent model costs $100 more but this would make the bag really waterproof. I always use a tent because I love "bad weather" camping. Very roomy, light, packs small and super quality construction all you have to do is pay for it. Check out their catalogue for all the options for each bag.
