Summary:
If your eyes bulge out at the price tags of other Therm-A-Rests, then get this one. I was lucky enough to get mine for free when I bought a sleeping bag. I got the 3/4 version, which wasn't my 1st choice. But, I can't complain. The quality is just as good as any other Therm-A-Rest. I would recommend getting the full length version, because your feet deserve comfort too. And, you also might bang your foot on a tree root like I do sometimes. Also, if you camp in the winter often get a Therm-A-Rest with a better R value, but for spring through fall it just fine. Like to sleep on your side? No problem, go ahead and sleep any which way you like. My only complaint is that the pad is narrow. It's a small complaint at best. I just like to spread out when I sleep. The more expensive Therm-A-Rests will probably last longer, and some will be more comfortable. But this one is still great. I have spent too many sleepless nights on air mattresses and closed cell foam pads to ever go back to anything else. However, I have a Coleman closed cell sleeping pad as well, and I take it with me when I car camp. I put the Coleman on the ground first and then I put the Therm-A-Rest on top....it's heavenly. And I don't slide around either. As for backpacking, it's great as well. It's very light and compresses nicely. Unless i'm comfortable, I don't sleep no matter how tired I am. I fall right to sleep everytime on this mattress. Don't waste your time with any other mattress out there. Get a Therm-A-Rest and get some quality sleep in the outdoors. If you don't like the price, think about this. If you camp a lot, you will go through many sleeping pads and mattresses before you go through one Therm-A-Rest.

cots, a plethora of air mattreses, coleman Ultralight closed cell foam pad, and hard ground. Nothing comes close.
