Summary: I bought this mattress years ago and I love it!!! It is so comfortable. This is well worth the money. If you are backpacking in cold conditions, this pad will also keep you warm. I loaned it out to a family who instantly fell in love with it. He went and bought one when he got back. They make the 3/4 length and the full length. I would highly recommend the full length. Also I would like to add that you should store them at home inflated. It keeps the foam inside in tip-top shape so that it will self-inflate every time. I have had mine for years and it always self-inflates. This is one of my absolute favorite pieces of gear!!!

Summary: Great groundpad. I spent my first couple backpacking trips on a "ridge-rest" foam pad. It's huge compared to my thermarest (I fold mine in half before rolling so I can store it inside my pack), and doesn't provide half the comfort. I've used my thermarest in all ranges of temperatures, and have always stayed warm, dry, and most of all comfortable. Definetly a must have item. I would agree with everyone above also...go with the full length rest. On a my first backpacking trip the tent I was using literally filled with water. My buddy on his thermarest stayed above the water and dry (his sleeping bag too) while I didn't sleep a wink. It's sometimes all too important to keep those feet off the ground.

Summary: Good pad, I have used it in a number of conditions. It has performed well. I find if you get the Chair kit, and use that to start the rolling you can get a really tight roll on your pack. My only problem is that I like to sleep on my side and that can be a bit of a pain.

Summary: Great product, had it for several years now. Used it all over Europe, in camping barns, in tents, at friends houses and in a box trailer. Was originally a person that was very happy sleeping on an uneven ground, but bought it mainly for sleeping on flat floors in cold barns in the winter. In these sort of conditions it will add over a season to your sleeping bag. Now use it whereever I go. However, in a tent in the summer I will often find myself rolling off of it because I have got too hot. Have lent it to several friends in the past and all wanted one imediatly. The seat adapter is also suprisingly comfy. If you have the money and aren't woried by the weight by the full length one, you'll regret it otherwise. (I have the full length one)
Customer Service: Great, after several years of heavy use the T-A-R started to become delaminated, took it back to Cotswolds on the Monday telling them that I was going away on the friday, under the life time guarenty

Summary: Therm-A-rest really sets the standard when it comes to pads, and the guidelight is a great marriage of weight and comfort. I went with the full length because it keeps your feet warmer than clothes stuffed under your sleeping bag. While many consider the 1.5" pad a luxury, many others consider it a necessity, and I just consider it priceless. If you want a pad, try out the ultralight, if it just isn't comfortable enough, or you have a hard time sleeping anyway, go with the Guidelight. Plenty comfy and your pack won't notice the difference.
