Backpacker
Price Paid:
$120.00
at REI Summary: So, why does a backpacker carry a pad that is at least a pound heavier than the alternatives? Two numbers in explanation: 250 and 44 (my weight and age). I need that padding!
This pad is a great piece of equipment. Very comfortable, and the "sticky" surface keeps you from sliding off all night. As for durability, I've only had this one for a year, but my 4-year old Standard is still fully operational and currently gets considerable use by my teenager, so no worries.
The pain of the high price is partially offset by its great utility and comfort. Still, $120?! Ouch! Customer Service: REI. Always excellent. Similar Products Used: Thermarest Standard long, various closed cell throwaways, hard bare ground, pine bows and leaf beds.
