Primus Multi Fuel System 3288
|
Review Abstract The only downside to this stove seems to be its price. Reviewers were pleased with its versatility, boiling speed, easy maintenance, and design. Most contacted Primus for spare parts and were quite happy with the service they received. One camper said “the last time I was out, I had water boiling, using the compressed gas cartridge, before the other guys had their flames primed on their Coleman stoves. The only problem, I had to wait on the other guys before getting back on the trail. I guess I had a little more time to relax and catch a quick nap.” Looks like the Primus does the job and gives you time for R&R too! |

Car Camper
Price Paid:
$89.00
at Some Web Store Summary: I have almost all stoves. Even the $145 Snowpeak GS-010 and this one is my pick for reliability. If you should need parts here in the US, REI has them. I'm actually a motorcycle camper so eveything I use gets beat up with vibration. I don't think this stove will ever let me down. It is very LOUD! If you can live wiht that it the best one out there. The best constructed of all the stoves. Customer Service: None needed. Similar Products Used: Use and still own Snowpeak GS-010 (Sucks Big Time), Colman Peak 1 multifuel, Gaz turbo 270 Piezo, Primus Techno Trail Piezo, MSR Superfly Piezo (Good Unit), others.

Mountaineer
, from NEW YORK Summary: 3288 is a pretty good stove. I do alot of extreme winter mountaineering. The stove is liight and compact. I have had problems with gaskets. Also I have had to replace the draw straw with a longer one because the stove was pretty reliable even with pressure leak as long as the straw was submerged in the fuel and you kept pumping. With the short straw that it came a 33oz cannister (in conjunction wiith a leaky gasket will mean you wont be cooking!) Again I have replaced the straw so that it almost reaches trhe bottom of a 33oz msr bottle. The Little filter thing at the end can be removed from the original straw with a pair of pliars (twist). The leaks have been due to the need for a new pump cup, and o ring. The stove also does not have an adjustable flame. I like the stove and have stuck with it. Make sure you bring repair kit and a pair of pliars and some spare parts. Any questions you can email me at Leonardoviking@yahoo.com
Oh the aluminum pump is key.. Plastic ones suck!3288 has aluminum

at Someplace Summary: This stove is rugged, versatile and cooks anything in any way. This stove is awesome have not had a problem yet with it and it just keeps on cooking its just like cookminator. I have used this in such cold weather that I had to pee on the evaporater to get the gas to a gas it's that durable. It's also great for those accidental fuel spills in the car because you can just use your regular 87 even though it probally costs more because of these crazy gas prices. This stove also simmers and boil and anything in between Customer Service: I would trust primus with my life and I have in weather to -75f Similar Products Used: MSR Optimus

at alpsport, west ryde Summary: Very good but...
I'm not sure whether we overfilled our fuel bottle, but the burn off (rotating the bottle 180 degrees) was still going after an hour (instead of the 1 minute as per instructions). Eventually we gave up and just turned it off at the control valve.
Seems to use very little fuel (premium unleaded petrol).
A must if you intend on using petrol or aviation fuel (just incase you feel a wee bit thirsty up in the clouds). Customer Service: For those people that don't exist in the states, the price was AU$209
Similar Products Used: I've tried a normal open fire, the gas stove in the kitchen and the microwave. I think the microwave is better.

, from Oxnard, CA Summary: Fit and finish is very impressive. Very easy to prime and light. Never had flaring or leaking problems using white gas, always totally controllable. Simmering ability is adequate, though touchy. Use a low tank pressure. The only drawback is that it is extremely loud. Count on having to nearly shout to your friends while the stove is on. This is more of problem for me while car camping when the cooking is more complicated. Primus should make this stove with a quieter ported type burner. I'm now a butane cannister convert and switched to a lightweight cannister stove for weekend trips. Customer Service: None needed. Similar Products Used: Coleman Peak 1 Feather 442 (very frightening experience lighting this stove for the first time. I returned it the next day), Markill Hotshot.
