This pack, while basic in its' suspension, has done very well. I use it mainly for extended day hikes where I want to be able to carry the essentials, plus "extras" such as bulky clothing. Top loading, it opens up to one big pocket, about 4,000ci. But even though it's capacity is large for a day pack, it has 3 very effective compression straps on each side, being able to compress the entire pack into one long slender tube if need be. The top lid is removable, and I rarely have it attached to the pack. I received this pack 4 years ago, have used and abused it and it barely shows it. Very well made.Ed Customer Service:
