Summary: Buy it already, it's one of the best purchases I've made. It's one of the most comfortable surfaces I've ever slept on, certainly better than any camp mattress I've tried. I haven't been rained on in it, but as the water is only laying siege from above, I'd trust it in hard (vertical) rain more than I would any bathtub floor, certainly more than anything else for 2.5 pounds including mattress. Don't know how waterproof the fly is (read one review saying it isn't), but any problems are readily Seam Gripped away. Without Ensolite-induced chiropractic bills, the Seam Grip will pay for itself.
Customer Service: Hennessy's a bit slow on the phone, so call often. Also, my marked-down rig supposedly came with free Snake Skins, and I never got them, though now I'm questioning their utility. From a small, busy company, I can hardly blame them.

Summary: I purchased my Hennessey Expedition about 2 years ago, and have put it through its paces. Better than any tent, it weighs less than most backpacker tents, requires less time to set-up, and wherever you have two adequete upright posts, pillars, or trees, you have a place to sleep/rest.
The original rain fly leaked, so I replaced it with a Kelty 9' Noah's tarp. Works great and is the largest vestible ever! I recommend making a lightweight sleeping pad to counter the cold -- otherwise there is no insulation on your lower side due to sleeping bag compression.
Wet, uneven, rocky, ground or severe slopes are not a problem -- neither are fire ants, centipedes, and spiders. And best of all, you can sleep in virtually any position and not wake up feeling stiff and sore. An added benefit - getting rocked to sleep!!!
It is the best money I have ever spent for multi-night camping.
Customer Service: Very good! They are responsive, friendly, and go the extra mile to help. I rate this a 10.5 on a scale of 10.0
Similar Products Used: I have not tried any of the other backpack hammocks, but I can tell you that the Army Style Jungle Hammock is not an option, especailly in colder. wetter climates.

Summary: I've taken this everywhere. Australia, deserts, kayaking the Everglades,. . . If you have trees around, this is the only way to sleep. I bought one of the first tents, so designs have improved. I had to sew a longer velcro strip to make sure the opening stayed closed. Don't bother with the ripstop nylon fly because it leaks. The newer sili-tarp is the only way. I've been in heavy rains where I stepped into 4" of water when I left my hammock. No tent would have held back the flood. Setting this tent works if condensation isn't bad. Its difficult to work with as a tent though. Cold weather is a major issue. A good thermarest pad underneath solves the problem. Awesome for areas where spiders, snakes, and pesky rodents abound. You can also sit up and look around in any conditions. If you lay at and angle, you can lay flat. With some work, you can even lie on your stomach.
Customer Service: Great. I often ask to purchase updated items, and they give them to me for free. They are very responsive.
Similar Products Used: Army Jungle Hammock. Web hammocks (are terrible; they are difficult to turn over on your side). Assorted bivy tents and solo shelters.

Summary: Just got this thing and was a little nervous at first. Didn't know if I'd like it, but had to try it based on other positive reviews.
This thing is awesome! I never want to sleep in a tent again. I found it very comfortable, could sleep on my side. Goes up in a few minutes, no fancy knots. Got rain one night and it stayed dry as a bone.
It opens up whole new possibilties in terms of "where" to camp, as long as there are trees or something similiar to tie off the ends. Rain fly provides terrific coverage. The hooks and mesh pocket on the ridgeline are terrific for my Suunto and headlamp. If you ever wanted to "nap" comfortably in camp, this is the way to do it.
I'm a believer and never want to camp any other way.

Summary: I have owned a Hennesey Hammock for a little over 2 years and have used it in diverse conditions. This is the best 3 season tent that I own. It takes some time to get used to the sleeping position but you will love not being on the ground. The tent is a snap to set up and you can camp places with this tent that you would never consider with a conventional tent. The most impressive thing about this tent is that it weighs 2.1 pounds and you can leave your sleeping pad at home! This tent is very light, very comfortable, and very convenient to use, it is an excellent alternative to a bivy. The one drawback to using a hammock is that in cold conditions with my sleeping bag compressed on my back the bottom of the tent is very cold. The website for Hennesey has a design for a simple blanket that is supposed to be a good fix for this problem. I love this tent! Go out and get one.
