I've used the Muir Trial on a couple backpack trips as part of the Sierra Club's Wilderness Basics Course, including snow camp on Mt. San Jacinto at 9000 ft. On a base of 12 feet of snow it worked great and kept my and my buddy warm and dry in snow and heavy winds.
The design gives you room where you need it but doesn't waste any space. I would feel comfortable taking this tent anywhere I would consider camping.
It doesn't have a huge amount of mesh, but the fly and vestibule are excellent and it's easy to get in and out of this tent. Customer Service:

I have the newer version of this tent and it looks like MH cut off almost 2 lbs. Loaded with everything needed for that sudden July snowstorm, the tent is less than 6 lbs. This is by far my favorite tent. It weight a bit more compaired to my other tents, but I never have to worry about snow, wind, rain, sunshine, condinsation or anything else. Highly recomended, excellent quality and very versitle. Customer Service:

This is a nice tent. It is a convertable tent with lots of ventilation in the ceiling. The ceiling panel can be zipped shut for cold weather. There are two windows. One at the front and one on the roof. When the ceiling panel is unzipped you can look up at the stars.
The tent is wedge shaped at the foot, and is long enough for my 6'1" tall frame. My girlfriend is 5'2" tall and she does not have a problem in this regard. There would not be enough room for two people 6' tall. In nice weather, the back of the tent fly can be rolled up and secured over the rear tent pole. A zipper can be opened from the inside to close the tent fly in bad conditions. This is a nice feature.
The tent is a four pole design and is very strong in the wind and snow. Listed as a 3 plus season tent, I would trust it in most uses in my part of the country. The tent weigh's 7 pounds 2 ounces on my postal scale. I use other tents in the summer and save this tent for foul weather backpacking. The quality is excellent. Similar Products Used:
