Summary:
This is my first tent purchase. I have done a great deal of backpacking and camping, but it was always based on borrowing others equipment. I decided to purchase this as a starter tent, a relatively cheap tent to find out how much I would use my own. After my first experience with it, I am happy with the tent for the money I paid. Be sure that you are prepared to do extensive pegging in order to get the tent set up right. If you are not into bomb proof pegging, this tent is probably not for you. You will definitely want to get better pegs and if you are looking for a really roomy vestibule, again this is not the tent for you. However, if you are fairly tall and looking for a decent tunnel tent for some basic three season camping, this tent should work for you.

Similar Products Used:
I have used several Canadian Tire tents as well as MEC Tarn 2 and 3, and their tunnel tent that preceded the Merganser. Compared to the MEC tents, the floors are not as solid, there are no footprints avaliable and it is heavier than most of the compareable MEC tents. Again, I knew all this going in and decided to get this tent before investing more in a higher end tent.

Summary:
horrible tent. never buy a biovak/tunnel tent unless you enjoy many sleeples nights trying to peg the front of your tent down after it has collapsed on you and your gear. the whole design of the tent depends highly on having perfect conditions to set the tent up in (this never happens, ever). any sort of rock or sand will make your sleeping experience non viable.

Customer Service:
i wouldn''t trust this company with a dea dog. go with a more stable company like mountain equipment co-op (www.mec.ca), sierra designs or north face.
