at The Outdoor shop - S Summary: Invested in an Ultra Quasar 5 years ago expecting it to last a good few years with it being used 2-3 times ayear on short camping/climbing trips in the uk. I have had to return the tent to have stitching on the inner panel replaced which was covered under the lifetime gaurantee however they reported back to me that numerous other stitching areas were showing signs of stress. Sure enough on the next trip the stitching around the door failed but this time I have to pay to have it repaired!!!! I could understand the failures if the tent had been used in severe weather conditions on numerous occasions but this is far from the case. The tent still feels new and is spotless, its bben wll looked after. I am extremely dissapointed with the tent & TN's so called lifetime gaurantee. I would seriously think about buying a TN product again purely based on the inadequate limited gaurantee......

Mountaineer
Price Paid:
$0.00 Summary: I bought what was one of the early model Quazars 15 years ago and it has been in regular use since. I rate it bombproof, I have had it out in strong winds, and buried in snow. It is a bit heavy, but other than that it is perfect.

at field+trek brentwood Summary: I have a wild country quasar - purchased 18yrs ago and still going strong. It's a brilliant tent - I've carried it all around the world (yes it is a bit heavy), and have camped in hurricane force winds on many occasions-- the tent leans a bit in the wind but remains standing. Poles have broken twice -- once due to carelessness , and due to corrosion. Customer Service: was purchased with a lifetime guarentee - failed to live up to this

at ebay Summary: Terrific product. I am 6'5", and have plenty of room for myself, & gear. The double-door/vestibules are great for functionality. It can take any weather, for sure. Only qualms are the pole-sleeve construction, as opposed to clips. And also the weight...a bit over 9 pounds, you never forget where its at.
This is my first tent, and hopefully my last. Its all about strength, but not for the ultra-lite species.

at ELLIS BRIGHAM, LONDO Summary: I am returning to the joys of backpacking and expeditioning and researched the tent market before purchasing a Quasar in January 2004. I have tested it out four times in the English Lake District, largely in driving wind, wet and temperatures around 0 to +5C.
The tent held up well against wind and there was minimum condensation on the inner tent walls. I was, however, surprised by how much condensation collected on the inner tent floor and the atmosphere inside the tent was damp. Also, in high winds, the inner tent sides tended to 'billow'in, restricting the available space. But these are minor quibbles. The tent is robust, windproof and waterproof. Customer Service: I called them up to discuss the condensation issue and received good and courteous advice.
