Summary:
I absolutely adore these boots! They have never given me a blister or really even needed any time to break in. I've worn them everywhere from Montana to the AT in every kind of weather imaginable, and have never ended up with soggy feet. These boots will need to be waterproofed again as they get older and more worn, however.

When deciding on a pair of boots, I tried on at least 20 different boots from numerous manufacturers, but because I have a pretty narrow heel, I had trouble finding the perfect pair...that is until I tried on these. You can't beat the price I paid for them either!

Customer Service:
I haven't needed to use customer service for my boots, but from past experience REI has the BEST customer service. They will take just about anything back.

Price Paid:  $190.00 at REI

Summary:
I am a feild biologist and needed a boot that could withstand daily off-trail hiking for several months at a time. I have spent three years abusing these boots. They have been off-trail at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, to the Siskiyou Mountains, and to the Sonoran Desert. The downfall of this boot for me was the gore-tex lining. I had gotten the inside of the boot wet during a survey near on the San Pedro River. I dried them out in the 110 degree heat as best I could. I don't think they were completely dry the next day when I had to work again. The lining of the boot pushed forward making the boot too small. Also, the lining smooshed all-together making a hard awkward formation in the front of the boot. This was a sad end to my boots. The only other problem that I had was after the second year the stitching started to come apart in the front of the laces. This problem was easily fixed.
I am sure that these boots would have lasted me another three years had I not gotten the inside wet. I would definetly encourage anyone to buy this boot for backpacking or daily feild work, but I would forego the gore-tex lining.
