at Mountain Miser Summary: After a weekend trip to camp and mountain bike in the Salida/Poncha Springs area, and stumbling accross some sweet little (about 10-15 surface acre) lakes, I decided to buy a kayak. The idea of having another activity, and another toy,
seemed like a good one. After some research, I decided to look for a tandem boat, something my wife and 8 yr. old daughter could enjoy also. Besides, I ride some pretty sick stuff on my bike, but white water didn't seem like a good place for a beginner.
More research lead me to Dagger, and specifically to this boat. I just happened to find a demo boat, a used Werner Mid Tour paddle, and at a great price. $325 for the boat and $85 for the paddle.
I have had it out 4 times already, and it is perfect. It is very stable, tracks well, and is easy to paddle, even when I'm the only one paddling. I also like the adjustable front seat fo solo trips, and there is plenty of room and capacity for all my gear. Camping on the far side of a lake away from everyone else is very nice. About the only thing I haven't tried to put in it is my bike, and it very well might fit.
The boat has already stood up to demo use, so I have no doubt as to it's durability. Even so, it's nice to know that the material used can be repaired.
All in all a great boat for it's intended purpose. It turns a bit slow until you get the hang of paddling in unison , and don't expect it to be a creek boat. Just great fun and a great way to discover new places. Customer Service: The shop was very helpful. Haven''t had any problems, but went to order accessories and Dagger directed me back to the dealer. I couldn''t buy from them direct on their website. Similar Products Used: Old Town
