Summary:
An "anybody" kayak. You can paddle 0r pedal, or do both at once. The unique "flipper-like" pedal system makes this a fun and easy way to tour your local waterways. Extremely stable, this is excellent for anyone new to kayaking. For the novice, the pedal option takes away the need for upper body strength, and for the seasoned kayaker, this provides the unique ability to glide along hands free, allowing you to fish, snack, take some photographs, etc.

How do I use mine?
I live on the water, and use my kayak like a bicycle. The water is free of cars, rocks, dust, and dirt, making it the ideal place to exercise or relax. I just slide my kayak into the water, drop in the pedals and away I go! The water is so peaceful, solitary and serene. I'll often take my breakfast along, stowing it in one of the many convenient compartments, and eat while I pedal gently. Ducks swim over for a nibble of bread sometimes! I usually go out for a workout, and combine pedaling and paddling for a total body workout, but often I'll invite a friend along for a slow paced sightseeing tour. Everyone imagines it will be like grunting along on a pedal boat, and are always shocked when they find how fast you can go by pedaling lazily!

I highly recommend the Hobie Mirage. Couldn't live without mine, as it brings peace and solitude to my hectic life, as well as a workout routine which never gets boring (I always workout longer than planned because I actually forget that I'm working out). Steering the rudder with a little handle is a snap, and pedaling requires very little effort. This is one piece of equipment that will never gather dust in your garage!

*Hobie has just introduced a new model, specifically designed for fishing and photography. New features include many holders, and a space designed to hold a tackle box or cooler.
