Summary:
The "Frenzy" is the first Kayack I've owned. I live in Ocean City, NJ. So something for the surf and something for lake was the big question. I must say after only being on it for my third day, I love it. I have been kayacing before on rentals "not sit-on-tops" so I was expecting an almost canoe type entry, but I was suprised that when I shifted my enitre weight in waist deep water that it did not want to tip. I have had so much fun in the last three days I wish had purchased one a long time ago. I can't wait to go up to my favorite lake in PA "Marsh Creek". I would stronlgy suggest this kayak to anyone just starting out, it's worth spending the extra money as there are many cheaper starters out there.

Only Rentals, I only know I rented an "Ocean Kayak" once, and never had a problem.

Summary:
If you like to do several things (paddle around, snorkle, and surf), but can get only one boat, this is the one.

It's super stable, easy to paddle and easy to jump off and get back on. Great for the beginning paddler or kids. Even though I've been paddling for several years, I still have fun in this boat, it's hard not to.

Surfing: It does extremely well in smaller waves (1-3 feet) and sloppy conditions. In fact, when it's really sloppy, I don't know of a better platform to be on to surf. It's stability makes it super easy to bounce over the continuous barage of whitewater. As it starts getting bigger and cleaner, I've often wanted a higher performace boat made expressively for surfing, or a surfboard.

If you want to do some more long distance paddling or scuba, then the Scrambler, Scupper Pro or WS Ride are better platforms. The Frenzy really pushes rather than slices through the water and it doesn't track well either. The Scrambler does OK in the waves, but it's length can be a problem. Same with the WS Ride.

If you're looking for a high performance surf kyack, mid-to-long-distance paddling machine, or scuba diving platform, look elsewhere. If you want a fun surf boat, short paddling machine and great snorkling platform, go with the Frenzy, you won't be dissapointed.
