Summary: Extraordinarily warm, lightweight, roomy, and comfortable. I've been an amateur astronomer for over 40 years. When standing at a telescope on cold nights, you're burning very few calories and you need a GOOD coat (or many layers) to keep you warm. Plus, clothing has to be breathable so you don't get too sweaty when hauling and setting up a lot of gear and heavy and equipment. This caot does just that. It is the best, warmest coat I've ever had. I've used it for two years now and am vey satisfied with it. Be warned, though: it is VERY, VERY warm. So, don't expect to wear it around for commuting or shopping unless it's COLD (and I mean COLD)! It is expensive, BUT you are getting a very high quality product. This is truly a case where you get what you pay for. I would gladly buy this again... but as well as it's made, and for what I use it for, I expect it will last a lifetime!
Customer Service: Two thumbs up. Good info on my telephone order, fast shipping, well packed, good care instructions.
Similar Products Used: REI Co-op Down Parka purchased in 1973 (for about $129... don't remember the name). Outstanding quality (it did last almost 30 years) If I used layering, it would keep me as warm as the Rock and Ice,

Summary: This is a great parka! It's VERY warm and the quality is superb. Mine has the PTFE shell which I think is worth the extra cash,as it repels moisture well. I've used mine in Montana,Wyoming and North Dakota and it's kept me warm at all times. I had My doubts about spending this much for a parka at first, but now I'm glad I did. Because unless I lose it I think this Parka will outlast Me. Bottom Line: If You spend much time in high cold places, or winter camp very much get one of these, You will never regret it!
Customer Service: The Rep I spoke to on the phone when I ordered was helpful, I have not needed any warranty repairs,So I can't comment on that part of the company.

Summary: Used my Rock and Ice on Denali a few years ago. At minus 20, it's super warm. Fits great, quality is first class. The only problem is that it's too warm for most activities but then I bought it for big mountains and up high, it's the best there is.
Customer Service: The guy on the phone was helpful when I bought it - with zero problems, I've never had to call them back.
Similar Products Used: I've never owned another brand but haven't seen anything in the mountains yet that compares to the Rock and Ice if it's really cold where you're going.
