Summary: The SubZero SL Hooded Parka is well designed, well built, great fitting, reasonably light and compressible, and best of all, completely toasty across a very broad temperature range. When the mercury drops I wouldn't go anywhere without it.

Summary: I love Mtn Hardwear. When I'm ice climbing I think I look like and add for their stuff, but that's because I trust everything they make. This jacket is no exception. It fits great, it's comfy and toasty warm and the fleece lined pockets are the BEST!! It is also rather durable. I used it as my belay jacket on a three day ice climbing adventure. It got stuffed and unstuffed from my pack countless times, was around sharp ice tools and generally got treated with no respect and it still came out shining(smelling like a rose it did not, but the stench released by poly-pro underwear is a different story!) The Stormlight shell does a great job of keeping the down dry in a snow storm, too! The only bummer is that it doesn't have it's own hood. That's the only thing I can think of that's missing. I haven't worn my Nuptse since I bought this.
Customer Service: Only talked to them once and they were great!
Similar Products Used: TNF Nuptse. Not bad, but I'm looking to sell it. A Belay jacket requires a waterproof shell for my needs.

Summary: I've used this jacket all winter and have been more than impressed. It has kept me plenty warm at temps far below zero and has been a savior in camp. My main use for this jacket is winter camping where staying warm sitting around camp is a must. I spend my camping time in the mountains of Colorado, but I've also used this jacket during nine days of bitter Indiana cold (at times -20F without windchill). All I have to say is I'm glad I stuffed this feathered wonder in my carry-on bagadge for that trip.One very nice feature of this jacket is the draw cord that snugs the jacket against your back. This is a big plus for those who are tall and skinny who have to get large jackets to fit their arm length. Most other jackets big enough to fit my arms were far too big around my chest and stomach which is very inefficient and "drafty". Not so with the MH Sub Zero.
The only thing I don't like about the jacket is the lack of a hood, but MH will be including it on next year's model. That would make this jacket absolutely perfect!

Summary: This is the end all down jacket. I'm very impressed with the quality of Mtn. Hardwear products, more so than North Face. I just wish that I discovered them earlier. This jacket has the conduit SL fabric which I must admit I'm still afraid to take a down clothing item into the rain, so no eval. there. The details are so much superior to the TNF Nuptse jacket, which I also own. Fleece-lined pockets and an interior bottle pocket sized for a 1ltr nalgene are very welcome. Abrasion resistant shoulders allow worry-free pack wearing, unlike the inferior Nuptse jacket. Hpoefully the loft will last as long as my 22 year old Frostline. It helps that it was 40% off!!

Similar Products Used: frostline tundra jacket(made from a kit 22 years ago, and finally just outgrew) TNF nuptse jacket, not impressed and sold it to some sap...
