Price Paid:
$0.00 Summary: Lightweight and works great!
I bought this lightweight shell to stay dry on an upcoming month-long hike and have been taking every opportunity to test it since it arrived on my doorstep. Weather has been rainy the past few weeks in Chicago and I've gotten the chance to see how this great jacket works in light rain as well as an awful downpour. I was surprised that even in the worst weather, it kept me completely dry with no leak-through. It also layers well with my Marmot fleece for good wind protection and warmth. The feature I enjoy most on this jacket is the roll-up hood. I don't like walking around in a hooded jacket when I'm not wearing the hood and having the ability to essentially turn this into a jacket without a hood when I'm not using it gives it extra points. When I do need the hood, I don't even have to remove the jacket to unroll it - Accessibly velcro strap is reachable while I still have the jacket on! Great buy at the price!

at Hudson Trail Outfitt Summary: I bought this product recently and am very impressed with the breathability and function. It's light enough for summer hikes and being outside, and it is waterproof. The sealed seams do their job, and pit vents help cool me off during exertion.

at backcounty Summary: Bought this jacket a few years ago as a closeout. It is great as a spring skiing shell. It has served me well through many a Rocky Mountian back pack downpour. Last year I did a 10 day trek at Philmont NM and the jacket performed like a champ through many days of continuous rain. I sometimes think the complaints are related to condensation. The pit vents help greatly, but this jacket will condense perspiration during exertion. Last year I struggled through an avalanche roll out, scraping through trees and downfall and this jacket doesn't even show a scratch. It is a trooper! I bought it on a recommendation from an avid outdoorsman who uses one as his shell. Now, mine is starting to absorb water and I'm looking for a fix. I'll call customer service, but I've already gotton my money out of this soldier. I will buy another (on sale). All these type jackets are overpriced at list. Similar Products Used: Golite Paclite - about the same quality although the packlite is "noisy" whereas the Prcip is silent.

at REI Summary: Durability is the key issue with this jacket. I have owned it for a year and a half and this jacket is no longer waterproof. I bought it because it was light and had some nice features to it. However I am very unimpressed with how long it has lasted me. For the price I payed I would have expected to be able to rely on it for longer than this. If you want an around town jacket than this on is fine, but do not trust your life to it.
