Price Paid:  $100.00 at Mountain Equipment C

Summary:
I bought my jacket fived years ago, and mine does have a hood. The jacket works very well for day trips, where you will be outrunning a storm and not trying to sit it out. Activent wets out after about one hour of heavy rain. I use mine for day hiking and cycling and the breatheability is adequate.

Light, inexpensive, and small pack size.

I am considering the Marmot PreCip as a light jacket. It is lighter, smaller, and waterproof.

Summary:
Got this thing at Livetoplay.com for $40! This jacket breathes very well and has lots of ventilation options. The factory DWR is very good and water runs off of the fabric like a freashly waxed car. I probably wouldn't have paid $155 for it, but it was a steal for the price I paid.

Summary:
This jacket is a great overall jacket for showery weather in warmer climates. I use mines for wet weather running and the vented pockets and pit zips are perfect for regulating airflow while keeping dry at the same time. I don't know what hood the previous reviewer is referring to, as I don't think this jacket was ever made with a hood. The quality of this jacket is top rate. I have no complaints about this jacket, and my value rating reflects the fact that I was able to buy this jacket brand new at a close-out sale for way less than $100. I don't think that I would pay full retail($155) for this jacket.

I also own the Patagonia Velocity shell and this Activent jacket is alot more comfortable, breathes better, in the wet while you are sweating, like running or hiking in the rain. The Velocity shell has no venting.

Summary:
Moonstone makes very well tailored jacket overall. This anorak works well for biking, day hiking, etc. It is made of Gore Activent with breaths very well, but wets out in continious rain. I could not recommend it for backpacking or climbing unless you were sure about it not raining much. The hood works well enough, but is somewhat small in volume. It has pit zips for added venting also. It is holding up well to use.

Summary:
this is an excellent jacket!! I've had mine for over a year now and when it wears out i'll get another just like it. Amazingly lignt and no nonsense. It's extremely well designed with pit-zips and front pockets made of mesh (so they are essentially core vents). it's hard to over heat in this thing and it can keep you pretty warm with minimal insulation because it's wind proof. it also packs away so small, it's impossible to justify not bringing it with you. the only drawbacks are fragility, it's one thin layer of activent, and it won't keep you totally dry in a heavy rain situation. also, i got mine on sale, but i'd pay full price if i had to.
